Keepassx Autotype on Ubuntu 1
When Ubuntu 14.04 was released things were mostly ok, except on 1 desktop here, not all of them, keepassx autotype/autocomplete started failing. I could copy/paste using cntl-b and cntl-c into the userid/password files, but that’s 10x slower than pressing cntl-v and the tool fills in the userid{tab}password{enter} …
The fix ….
So it was broke. Thought it was keyboard language specific, so verified all the language and input settings were the same on all the working desktops. Still, the netbook wasn’t working. I gave up for a few months.
Until today. Found these links
- AskUbuntu
- Google Code
which claimed that ibus was the issue. Tried their solutions around setting environment variables, which didn’t help.
Since I’m not running any DE, I don’t really see the point of having a system wide input that isn’t part of X/Windows. Turns out that purging the ibus* packages, then logout/login fixed it.
keepassx autotype is working again.
Time to update my installation procedures to purge ibus, just like nano.
It is a little frustrating when core things like input methods aren’t fully tested.
Broken again. Don’t know why, just that autotype doesn’t work anymore.
