This is clearly a scam. Check out the timezone and “HDT”. They could have looked up the company to see something relevant about it to include. Would have been really great if they used my full name, not just an email address too. And the fact that the source of the email was let me look quickly:
hwsrv-710436.hostwindsdns.com ([104.168.151.120]:48704
is just a little suspicious. We don’t have offices anywhere near Seattle. The formatting was really odd. I’ve fixed some of it for readability.
There was an HTML attachment, but that wasn’t displayed because we don’t allow HTML email. Not showing HTML email is a basic security setting. Some email programs will display “simplified HTML” which cannot access anything not contained directly in the HTML That’s a viable compromise. The goal is to prevent any web “bugs” from working or remote images/scripts from loading.
Anyone else notice that the phone scams are basically gone? I almost miss getting calls from my new landlord threatening to send the police to have me evicted today. Almost.
